Celebrating Me Time Photo Competition

Carers Queensland understands how difficult it is for carers to enjoy some time to themselves but we also know, through our contact with carers across Queensland, that many carers have found clever and creative ways to recharge their batteries.

In the lead-up to National Carers Week 2017 (October 15-21), we asked carers to share images of the unique ways they find a moment to themselves. The Celebrating Me Time competition received many entries, a selection of which were shared at the national and regional events.

Some of the photos were also selected for an exhibition at the Brisbane City Hall during Carers Week, raising awareness of carers in the wider community. It is hoped that by sharing these ‘Me Time’ moments, it will inspire other carers to make time for themselves.

The winner for the 2017 competition was Linda McDowell.

In her entry, Linda told us, “Getting out into nature is a very calming thing. When the breeze is just right, I love to take one of my kites out for an hour or so. I love the challenge of getting it to fly as high as possible. It really takes my mind off things.”

Congratulations to Linda and thank you to everyone who entered our Me Time Photo Competition.
