South Coast (Gold Coast) – Carers Week Events
During Carers Week 2016 the Gold Coast Office held one event and delivered a very special project. The project was the creation and delivery of 1694 Gifts for carers in Carers Week 2016. The small flower arrangement was a gift to signify that the carers role was seen and appreciated by the person they care for. We enclosed with the gift an opportunity to win a night for two people at the Sofitel Broadbeach, including breakfast a massage and parking. The gifts were distributed to individuals who have a carer so they could take them home and give them to their carer. The responses from carers who received the gifts has been amazing and emotional. Being appreciated is a powerful tonic !
In addition to this special project the Gold Coast office also hosted a Carers Week brunch at Nerang RSL for the presentation of our Carer-Friendly Business Awards. The acknowledgment of Country was delivered by Aunty Pat Leavy who continues to support our carer activities. the event was attended by approximately 55 carers attended we were grateful to have the support of local Member for Gaven, Sid Cramp, MP attend to present the awards. A great time was had by all, and we are already looking forward to Carers Week 2017.
We would like to acknowledge the Queensland Government for their generous support and sponsorship of Carers Week in 2016.
