Connecting to Community

Carers Queensland takes an active role in building a community that is inclusive and welcoming for people with a disability. We will:

  • support you to navigate and explore activities, information and support available in your own community
  • help you connect with mainstream and community supports in your area, eg. education, health, transport, sport, clubs
  • build connections to local community and mainstream services allowing people with disability, families and carers greater choice and control over their own lives
  • partner with local businesses/organisations to increase opportunities for social connection

If you are not eligible for the NDIS, Carers Queensland can support you to connect to services, supports and activities happening in your community.

Supporting you on your NDIS journey

Carers Queensland Local Area Coordinators (LACs) will work with you to understand the things that matter and make a difference in your life, learn about your goals and hopes for the future, and support you as you move through the NDIS Pathway. We understand everyone is not the same and one person’s journey can be very different from another’s.

Our workforce is made up of highly skilled LACs who bring a wealth of knowledge and personal experience of living with disability, having caring responsibilities, being part of the LGBTQIA+ community, identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander or from the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community.

A COVID-Safe Space

Carers Queensland has a COVID-Safe Plan. This plan outlines the COVID-Safe requirements for our offices and at our events to ensure a safe and consistent approach to interacting within Carers Queensland premises and at external events hosted by Carers Queensland.

Carers Queensland is a COVID-Safe workplace and follows all directions provided by relevant state and federal government departments. Restrictions and controls are subject to change in line with changing circumstances and official advice. For more information please see:
